As your surrounds shimmer gradually into proper view, you let out the breath you have subconsciously held. Swiping a hand over your eyes, you let out a low whistle and eye the device around your waist. Up until this moment, you hadn't truly believed the alternaverse-ometer would actually work, but here you are. The carpet at your feet looks identical to the carpet you had been on, but your lab partner has disappeared. It seems that the device can only transport one of you - at least, that's your hope, because if not, you have no idea how to even begin finding John. Or where.

Taking stock, you decide it's time to explore the world you find yourself in. Luckily, you have the presence of mind to peek out the window, rather than exit the door. What you see leaves you utterly bemused. It seems that in this alternate universe, there's one really big difference. Everyone here walks really weirdly. You know you can't emulate it, so you quickly switch the device to return you home before anyone from this universe discovers you in what they would consider a most unusual stance. Thankfully, John is right where you left him, and he greets you enthusiastically, eager to know everything about your visit.

You leave out no detail, and the two of you roar with laughter at your description of the way the people there walked. It's funny to you both to think that in an alternate universe humans walk on foot.
FFM Day 10, a day late. I've been a miserable sod today and I'm ridiculously far behind, now. Ah well. There's still time to play catch-up.

Anywho, this was inspired by a prompt suggested by bookcrusher, but it's a bit of a spoiler so I'll leave the prompt out in case you haven't read the story yet.

Excellent story! That ending sure made me laugh too, even though I do walk on foot. XD
